About Little Gems
Little Gems Infant & Toddler Centre provides warm, responsive care for children ages 0–3 in Qualicum Beach.
Our educators create nurturing environments where infants and toddlers feel safe, supported, and encouraged to explore. Through play, connection, and gentle guidance, we help little ones build confidence, curiosity, and a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Tonya — Co-Owner & ECE
20+ years of experience and three amazing daughters of my own, early learning is truly my passion.
I believe children learn best through play, and I strive to create warm, nurturing environments where little ones feel safe, loved, and encouraged to explore.
Shannon — Co-Owner & ECE
Lifelong early childhood educator passionate about play-based learning and nurturing environments where children feel safe, confident, and supported.
Deirdre — Early Childhood Educator
With a lifelong career in early learning — from training in England to running a multi-aged daycare for 25 years — Deirdre brings wisdom, warmth, and experience to every child she supports. She loves being part of each child’s accomplishments.
Jasmine — ECE Assistant
ECEA certified and completing her full ECE, Jasmine believes in listening deeply to children and giving them space to express themselves. Inspired by her grandmother, a teacher of 35 years, she brings joy, kindness, and curiosity into every interaction.
Melody — Infant & Toddler Educator
An ITE-certified educator and mom of two, Melody is passionate about creating warm, inclusive spaces where children feel safe, valued, and supported. She loves fostering connection, creativity, and community within the centre.
Caitlin — ECE Assistant
An ECEA working toward full certification and special needs training, Caitlin believes strongly in play-based, individualized learning. She loves helping toddlers explore the natural world and develop confidence through outdoor experiences.
Sierra — Infant & Toddler Educator
With an ECE and infant/toddler specialization, Sierra is dedicated to supporting children during their earliest years. She nurtures curiosity through intentional, responsive care and strives to build strong foundations for lifelong learning.
